Apply now to perform at or attend Music for Youth’s EXCHANGE 2018, which returns to SWG3, Glasgow Friday 16 & Saturday 17 March.

Hosted by BBC Radio Scotland and 6 Music presenter Vic Galloway, EXCHANGE is an unmissable free event for anyone passionate about music – whether you’re a young person, work with young people or are the parent or guardian of a rising star, this event is for young musicians and young people interested in the range of jobs available in the music industry, as well as those looking to inspire them.

Highlights of the two-day EXCHANGE event include:

Hold a Beat! Interactive and inclusive music session exploring ways to create music from scratch with Paragon Music, bringing together disabled and non-disabled young people.

Demo: Live! Apply to perform on Saturday 17th and give our industry experts the full experience of your sound; live. Demo: Live! is the unique opportunity to be seen and heard by our resident industry people including BBC 6 Music’s Vic Galloway, with a 1:1 backstage session of feedback and advice.

'Be Inspired' and 'How to Get My Job' panel sessions feat. our resident industry experts and some special guests across the different days, including:

Stina Tweeddale - Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Honeyblood

In conversation with Sir James MacMillan, world-renowned composer and conductor. Hear him discuss how he got to where he is today as he shares his top tips for the next generation of aspiring musicians.

Friday 16 March is designed for young musicians making music in schools and as part of larger organisations. (And those who support them!) The day offers the chance to hear from musicians and organisations across the music industry. Sign up to attend, or apply to perform to get the chance to take to the stage and receive specialist performance feedback from our industry experts.

Saturday 17 March is independent music makers all the way. From bands to singer-songwriters, and from MCs to neo-soul artists. Get down to SWG3 for MFY Exchange. Hear from artists doing their own thing. Hear from artists signed to major record labels. Connect with organisations that can help you to take the next step. Sign up to attend, or apply to perform to get the chance to take to the stage and receive specialist feedback.

We will also be hosting a range of local and national organisations, from our supporters Creative Scotland, through to Live Music Now, Music Plus, Hit the Road, and Behind the Noise. From orchestral instrumentalists to singer-songwriters, we’ll hook up emerging musicians with relevant organisations to network and get guidance on next steps in the industry.
