The Young Demonstrators invite 14-18 year olds to join them for a Party with the Past! Get your costumes at the ready for a night of singing, dancing and surprises!
This party will be an exclusive opportunity to view some of the museum’s brand new galleries — with a twist. There will be live music curated by Totally Sound, as well as the chance for you to perform on our busking stage... no pressure though.

We’ve also got a scavenger hunt to keep you guessing, a photo-booth where you can impress us with your modelling skills (although not before you’ve visited our face painting stall). Plus what would a party be without a disco - well a silent one that is! The silent disco has two music channels to choose from and a whole gallery set aside for you to show us your dancing skills.

Don’t forget to don your costume, anything from Neolithic to Jurassic, Ancient Greece to the 90s — as long as it happened in the past, we’re all for it!

  • Sweets and treats will be available at a small price to keep you going, as will water and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • We cannot permit any alcohol on the premises, as not all of our guests will be of the legal drinking age.
  • To perform on our busking stage, email Lynsey ( to book a slot and your stage will be set for your debut!
  • This event is part of Teens in Museums Takeover Day 2016 and is for young people aged 14-18 years old.
  • Please be aware that this event is for 14-18 year olds. Any adults wishing to accompany a young person should contact Lynsey - or 0131 247 4004

Who and what are Young Demonstrators?
Young Demonstrators are the National Museum of Scotland’s youth team. We come from a variety of backgrounds but we all have one thing in common – we love the museum and want to help other young people discover the amazing things it has to offer.
