The Conservatoire has been teaching performing arts for over sixty years now and is recognised as Scotland’s top performing arts and music training centre. If you dream of pursuing a career in music or just want to develop your skills, we have a wide variety of music short courses suitable for every age and level of ability.
We are delighted to introduce our new Popular Music course which will provide you with the opportunity to develop your performance skills both as a soloist and in an ensemble. Throughout the course, you will develop your knowledge and skills in a broad range of musical genres. During the course you will develop your skills as a songwriter, and will have workshops with a range of songwriters in order to find out about different compositional techniques and devices. As an ensemble, you will work on arrangements of your original material, which will be recorded and performed.
There will be opportunities to learn about the recording process for musicians, as you will have your original material recorded in a studio. This course is perfect for anyone who is interested in developing their musical technique and their ability to work as part of a musical ensemble. There are no formal entry requirements, although some instrumental or vocal skills will be beneficial.
Students will require an instrument to participate in the course (for example guitarists, bass guitarists).
